White Phosphorus
In 2005 the USA finally admitted, through the Pentagon, to using White Phosphorus in Iraq - specifically in the Holly City of Fallugah. It seems the Pentagon had finlly had to admit its use because in the Press Free Zone`of Fallujah some brave not embedded journalists did get in and were able to report the use of White Phosphorus and of some of the horrid, burning casualties.
However, there seems to be some disagreement as to whether White Phosphorus was used as an illumunant or an obscuring device.. Either way this would be a legal use of the chemical. But, this then begs the question, `Why would the Pentagon deny its use for so long if the use was legalÉ` We`re all used to the Pentagon lying immediately about darn near everything but this is more than just a bad habit.
The White Phosphorus, as used in Fallujah, was illegal by international law though the US has steadfastly refused to become a signatory to this law. I can only assume then that the chemical can only be legally used by the Americans in the USA. In Fallujah White Phosphorus was used extensively in neighbourhoods and small business locales. This is not only illegal but amoral.
Once again the US had broken International Law and, now, American manufactured White Phosphorus Shells, identifiable by both colour and number are now being used in the densely populated Gaza.
