It is expected that many thousands of Iraqis will enter the US in 2009. Is this proof of how terrible and dangerous it is now to live in Iraq. How is the US going to deal with their post traumatic distress disorder as treatment is not going

so well with the veterans of the USA.
Obviously Iraq is not becoming a safer plce to live, to work, to bring up a family. As a matter of fact the US has provided a special visa program for Iraqis who have worked under contract for the Americans or other American contractors. This special visa program has become necessary because these people who decided to work for Americans have been ostracized from their families and their culture.
These numbers of refugees do not reflect upon the approximately 5 million refugees that have been created through continuous bombing missions as well as sieges against the citizens of the Holy City of Fallujah and the city of Sadr.
Very little has been done for the poor people who fled these cities and others because of the constant attack with bombs and missiles including carpet bombs and white phosphorous incendiary devices. These poor people were left with houses reduced to rubble by the Americans; their businesses ruined and many family members dead or dying. There was no hospital care available, ambulances were riddled with bullets; no water to drink, no electricity. The infrastructure was ruined not only by 'collateral damage' but also by design. They left these people a living hell.
I wonder how the new Iraqi Muslims will be welcomed to America. I know there are any great groups which will give them some help but there is quite a mad hysteria permeating American culture that has brewed an evil concoction of evil feelings toward Muslims; especially Iraqis. This general hatred for Muslims throughout the US seems to be centred mostly in Christian Fundamentalism - the Moral Majority - as well as within established hate groups and the super patriots wrapped in their flags.
This is a dismal story all around and all because President Bush wanted to have his war and there was no turning away from that.
PS: It is pretty much known the George Bush was pulled out of the Vietnam war by his powerful family. It is also apparent that he was AWOL from the National Guard in Texas. What a hypocrite!
PPS: The tiny country of Sweden (only about 9 million people) has taken in 43,000 Iraqis refugees.
