MK-ULTRA
In 1950 the CIA initiated Project MK-ULTRA; a project involved with experiments of mind control. This may seem right out of some science fiction novel but it's not. In fact its realism fragmented many subjects lives and the very essence of their personalities. So many people used as Guinea Pigs and, completely unknowing of that fact, fell into the misery of mental ilness. This did not only happen in the United States but elsewhere as well.
Many experiments were done on CIA employees but the experimentation didn't stop there. The experimentation were extended to include military personnel, doctors, government employees in general, protitutes, prisoners, the mentally ill as well as civilians in the US and Canada.
The CIA experimental drugs were administered alone and in combination with other drugs; varying doses and frequencies were also included in the CIA experiments. The drugs the CIA used were LSD, heroine, temazepam, mescaline, psilocybin, scopolamine, marijuana, alcohol and, of course, sodium pentothal.
In Canada the experimenters focused upon Nazi research for erasing memories and personalities.

In November of 1953 the eminent Dr. Frank Olson had his drink spiked with LSD secretly by Sidnet Gottlieb at a meeting. Olson soon began showing the effects of the halucinogen drug LSD. Ben Wilson, also attending the meeting, said later that Olson began acting psychotic.
Gottlieb and the Director of the CIA, Allen Dulles, instituted a cover-up that lasted 20 years.
The good Dr. Frank Olson began suffering from extreme paranoia and had a complete nervous breakdown. The CIA send him to New York City to see one of the CIA psychiatrist who recommended, after examining Olson, that Olson be institutionalized. On Nov 28, the night previous to being taken to the mental institution, Olson, allegedly, jumped through his 10th floor hotel room to his death.
Only nine days had passed since his being secretly being drugged by Gottlieb.

On April 1996 a Grand Jury inguiry was approved and on that same day former CIA Chief William disappeared; his remains later found in a lake.

MK-ULTRA had evolved out of another secret programme called Bluebird, which was set up to counter Soviet advances in brainwashing. In actuality the CIA was testing 'narco-hypnosis' which was the blending of mind altering drugs with hypnotic programing. This project became Project Artichoke and the aim became to create programmable assassines, couriers and spies all of which would be unknown by the asset.
In the beginning, the inageration of the CIA in 1947 the CIA was forbidden to act in the US and to carry out its controversial activities in foreign lands. I can only guess how foreign countries felt about this! It would be justifiable to allege that the CIA could only be a criminal group as well as a terrorist functionary.
Nevertheless, while the CIA continued its activities in many other countries MK-ULTRA was mostly an activity within the US. It is not determined how far reaching this MK-ULTRA experimentation programme was because Richard Helmes as CIA director and chief architect of the programme ordered all MK-ULTRA records destroyed before he left his position in1973. Some files, though, had been mislaid and were discovered in the late 70s.
But, who really knows what really continued on within the echelons of the CIA?

The experiments had been ongoing in Canada. The CIA recruited a Scott Doctor by the name of Donald Cameron. He commuted from Albany, NY to Montreal, Canada every week to work at the McGill University from 1957 until 1964 to carry out experiments there.
His experiments were carried out upon patients who had come to the institute for minor problems such as anxiety, post partum depression and the like. Dr Cameron favoured LSD but also experimented with other paralytic drugs along with electroconvulsive therapy at 30 to 40 times the normal power.
Dr. Cameron's 'driving experiments' consisted of putting test people into drug-induced coma for weeks at a time and 3 months in one case. He would play tape loops of noise or simple repetative phrases. His experiments created incontinence in some victims and amnesia symptoms of forgetting how to talk, forgetting their parents as well as believing their interrogaters were their parents.
Dr. Cameron's work was very similar to the work done by British psychiatrist Dr. William Sergeant in London and in a hospital in Surry.

Remember, all this radical, illegal experimentation was done without the ictim's knowledge or consent. There are suspicions that there were/are other Doctors involved in both Canada and Britain and, perhaps elsewhere. But, just too many CIA files were destroyed.
